Get to know BEAMS PLUS
Launched in 1999 as the private label of the popular Harajuku boutique, BEAMS (originally founded in 1976), BEAMS PLUS is a renowned Japanese menswear line reimagining classic Americana through the eyes of its Tokyo-based HQ. The line takes inspiration from America’s Mid-Century boom aesthetics – think workwear, sportswear, military, and other foundational menswear – and pays tribute to their timeless appeal, while infusing them with a modern utility and sensibility.
Our CVO deck sneaker, a history
Done up in sturdy nylon and styled in Americana hues of red, white, and blue, this new take on the CVO is the perfect way to celebrate 90 years of our brand. The shoe that started it all, our classic CVO deck sneaker was created when our founder, Paul Sperry, slipped and fell off his boat while sailing the Long Island Sound in 1935. Later, struck by the way his cocker spaniel was able to grip the deck, even in the slipperiest of conditions, he cut grooves into rubber mimicking a dog’s paw, developing the world’s first anti-slip boat shoe. Fast forward to today, and the BEAMS PLUS NYLON CVO is a versatile statement maker that can be dressed up or down, depending on where the waves take you, and still has the original ANTI-SLIP sole.
Next Gen Nautical
On a pursuit to maintain authenticity of next generation casual wear, BEAMS PLUS chooses to see beauty in the functional designs of uniform fashion, blending Japanese design precision and contemporary style. Built for the open seas, reinterpreted for modern day living think of this as the new uniform for men, or those who dress like them.
